Turkey Meet

There is a meet in Waukesha, Wisconsin on November 22nd and 23rd. The first day is for High School fencers only and Sunday is an open meet, maybe Bob will fence it too. If you're in middle school you can fence the second day if you wish. We are considering taking a group to the meet. We would leave Friday after school and return Sunday after everyone is done fencing. Since we have to work on Monday we can't drive, it's just too exhausting, so we have a couple of options; We can get parents to drive or see how much it is to rent a small bus. I need to know by Sept. 12th if you'd like to go and your preferred driving arrangements so I can start making arrangements. This is not a SPA required event, it's a good warm up for the season and will give you a good idea of what to expect at Midwest this year.

USFA Membership

I hope you're having a great summer! At the banquet we talked about fencing USFA meets to give you more bouting time and more experience. To do this you must be a member of the USFA. The membership year starts in July, so you'll get the most for your money if you join now. In addition to being able to fence in USFA meets you'll also get a magazine. The SPA Invite in on January 18th (I think), if you like to submit a design for the t-shirt please do. This includes alumni fencers as well. It should be one color and on the front of the shirt. It should reference SPA in some way - maybe a fencing Spartan... I'm eager to see what you can come up with. I'd like the design by December 1st so you have some time = )

State Championships Results

You fenced very well today and your hard work has paid off. Thank you for all of your hard work with the late set-up and take down, we met my goal by being home while there was still daylight!

A special thank you to the parent's who fed us dinner tonight. It was FABULOUS! It was so nice to come home eat, (then send an email) and then relax! I think this might be a start of a new tradition = )

The date for Midwest High School Championships has been set. We'll leave on the 23rd and fence on the Jan. 24, 2009: Midwest Open, tentatively at Woodland Jr. High in Gurnee. We'd return early in the morning on the 25th.

On Thursday at 4:15 we are scheduled to fence Blake in the Dining Hall. Hopefully they will show up. Treats for the Blake meet are:

Team Banquet

Our team banquet is on March 5th at 6:00 in the Dining Hall. It will be catered by Boca Chica's again. We'll have fun team awards, awards for MVP's, MIP's, award the varsity letters and announce the team captains for next year. We hope to see everyone and their families there. Please RSVP and pay us (cash or check - you can make checks out to Jenni Blat) by February 26th, $15.00 per person.
